Only 4 more days....

I'm missing out. I just don't have the time to wait for the computer to load each blog at the rate it's loading. Sad, sad. However, don't let my woes stop you! Click the icon and head over! Another note: Today, I start a very part time job working at The Creative Quest in downtown Glendale! I'm so excited. For now, until we can figure how to get me more hours in with my availability, I will be working Thursday mornings and every other Saturday. If I could deal with my after school childcare issues, I could get in more hours but for now, I'm thrilled to have a chance to work in a great store, surrounded by art stuff, artists flowing in and out all day, and a great group of women who already work in the store! Come visit me!

Favorite collage material

Used tea bags!!! I love the variation of colors decided by the type of tea. Those with the pink stains are from Pomegranate Rasberry green tea. They are a new favorite, although the tea is a little sweet for my taste... I'm drinking it anyway for the bags! I've had a bowl accumulating bags as they were drying out and finally, tonight, stood and cut them all open and dumped the leaves out leaving me wonderful collage materials! If you have never used these, you MUST try them in your mixed media work!

whirlwind week

This past week has just been so incredibly busy. Dr.'s appts., dental appts., school stuff for kids, my own regular things I have going on, work, etc... whew! I'm glad it's Friday!

Today, I was teaching my Friday art student about painting shape. We painted oranges today. I decided to do one on canvas. It's a 4x4. I'm thinking a small series would be fun to do.

Great news for me... starting Thursday, Feb. 11, I'll be working a few hours a week at The Creative Quest! Right now, hours are limited because of store opening times and when I have to pick kids up at school, etc... but for now, we at least starting with every Thursday morning and every other Saturday when the boys go to their dad's house. I'd like to possibly get Monday hours but someone else has that shift. :( Anyway, I'm excited to be working in the store, surrounded by art supplies and artists!

I am wondering what your thoughts are about online classes? I'm wondering if some of my classes might do well as online classes and if I should look into that possibility and explore further. Any thoughts? Anyone? Experiences? Likes/ dislikes?

Revisiting a painting in progress

Some of you may remember my working on this piece. It's been a long time since I've worked on it and posted pictures so I thought I'd show the progression of the piece and where it is now. It is not a piece of my "pretty work" but part of my own personal story. The pain was refreshed as I added on the broken glass yesterday. Lots of grieving in my heart. I thank God that He doesn't leave us stuck in the pain and mess but He redeems. It's part of the process... this piece is just another part of mine.
